چکیده

THIS latest edition of Tredgold and Soddy's Textbook of Mental Deficiency in many ways rcpresents a healthy departure from static descriptions of pathological states alone to a more dynamic approach to the understanding of problems of social and psychological adjustment in mentally defective individuals. This owes much to the lessons learned from Child Psychiatry, and indeed the chapters on normal mentality, the subnormal mind, and disorders of relationship formation would be equally relevant in a textbook on that subject. The descriptions of child development and its anomalies are essentially clinical, and might not satisfy the academic psychologist, but they are none the less valuable for the positive therapeutic approach embodied in them.

Agglutinin-adsorbing latex method for blood-grouping of blood-stains and other specimens.

A new serological technique was introduced into blood grouping of blood stains and other test specimens. In this method, latex-adsorbed agglutinin was prepared by mixing polyvinyl-toluene latex particles of 2.015ƒÊ in diameter with antiserum. Accurate blood grouping was possible with the agglutinin-adsorbing latex particles directly even on a small piece of blood or saliva-stained fibrils in on...

Pre-Transfusion Serological Testing: Are we Doing it Right?

Pre-transfusion testing is performed to ensure the normal survival of transfused red blood cell products i.e. to prevent hemolytic transfusion reaction via immune-mediated mechanism [1]. The serological part of pre-transfusion testing includes; ABO group and Rh (D) type, antibody screening and crossmatching [2]. Antibody screening is included to detect unexpected antibody and was first introduc...

Discrepancy in ABO Blood Grouping in a Blood Donor: A Case Report

Detection of ABO blood groups through agglutination is the basis of pre-transfusion testing. However, weak agglutination reactions may be obtained with reagent antibodies and are a result of weak expression of A and B antigens on red blood cell surface which may cause a discrepancy in blood group typing. Here, we report a donor which showed discrepancy between red blood cells (forward) and seru...
